Starting the Final Task

 My name is Judith Reyes and I am an 11th grader at Fort Lauderdale high school. Before taking this class, I had never edited a film or accomplished any type of media, however, I had always been interested in media studies, the study of film and its elements. I enjoy watching a wide variety of movies, especially thriller/ suspense films. The se type of films keep me intrigued and interested the entire time. It makes me curious as to wanting to find out the suspense within the film. I also enjoy reading books. My two favorite type of books to read are romance novels but also suspense. For this task, I will not be working alone, instead I will be working with three other people. I have chosen to work with Hannah Ezammudeen, Raquel Lopez, and Jocelyn Colon. I decided to work with them because I trust they are responsible people. I have known Hannah, Raquel, and Jocelyn for a very long time and they have always been responsible when it comes to schoolwork. When it comes to these type of projects, teamwork is vital. Since it is a project that requires a great amount of work, each of us has a particular task to complete within the project.  This task is composed of many different parts, the editing, filming, acting, and so on. Each one of us will be in charge of different parts of the project but also when it comes to blogging. There are certain blogs that are allowed to be done together in the group while others individually. Which explains why some of our work will be similar. We have started the brainstorming process for the film we will do. We are each assigned a part in completing our pitch blog which is upcoming. Aside from blogs, we will all have a part not only in filming but also also when it comes to acting. It is only 4 of us in total but I am sure we will need more actors and we have to serve as some of those actors also. The editing component of the task will be divided amongst us since it is not a short film but a full length film. In my opinion, when it comes to these projects, working as a group or team is very helpful as there are many different ideas, which make the outcome of the film even more creative. Also, we won't feel overwhelmed with the amount of work as we each have to do our part which all benefits not only us but the project.

Resuming the editing process

Continuing with our film, my group and I have have started editing each of our scenes. There are a total of 60 scenes. Each one of us has at least 12 scenes to edit. Even though there are a few scenes yet to be shot, we have begun to edit the scenes that are completed since there are quite a few. As for me, I have 12 scenes to edit. Beginning with the sharpening knives scene and ending with the mother making tea from the kettle. The first scene that I edited was the knives scene. This scene consisted of a close up shot of the knives indicating that the evil mother is prepping to get on with her sinister plan. Therefore, this scene has a great amount of tensión and suspense as the audience is viewing the dangerous weapon the mom is using for her plan. Which is why I made the lighting of this scene be low key lighting to créate the suspense within the scene. I also made the scene a bit in slow motion to emphasize the mother sharpening the knvies. Editing process

As the filming journey continues, my group and I have still not finished filming. We have about 3 scenes to film to be able to complete the movie. The scene where Emily and her friend go into the house, the scene where the mom makes Emily fall asleep with the tea, and the ending scene. As I begin my editing process, I am currently still looking over the scenes that I have to edit. I am not able to edit at this moment due to the fact that I am in a different country because of an emergency last minute trip. As I am looking over the scenes, I am writing down ideas to make the film more creative. Also, I am writing down what needs to be edited, for example, what needs to be cut out from the scene. One of my scenes is where the mom is sharpening the knvies. In my opinion, that scene needs to have a bit of low key lighting added along with creepy eerie music since those are dangerous weapons and it leaves the audience at the edge of their set. Filming Review

 My group and I have taken a pause from filming. The last day we filmed was Tuesday, March 23. The next day we film will be the last since we have completed most of the film. To better prepare for our next filming session, I am currently reviewing my role and lines. This way, it will be easier not only for me but for my group. This will help us to not have to reshoot the scene multiple times and take more time than needed. In the scenes that are yet to be filmed, my character has many lines and the acting has to be adeuqate. The scene where Emily drinks the tea, she has to faint and act weak. Practice makes perfect so the more I practice my lines and character, the more unchallenging things will go. Also, I have been looking into the story board my group and I completed. I have crossed out or set aside the scenes we have already completed in the storyboard. I have marked the ones we haven't.
