Prepping to film
As the filming date apporaches, I am currently working on preparing for our filming process. This includes researching filming tecniques, the most essential types of camera movements in our film and so on. As my group and I outlined the filming process, we decided that we were going to use a wide variety of mid shots, close up angles, and zoom shots. These type of angles were found to be very common in the type of film we are making as it creates tension, suspense, mystery, and emphazises on the person's feelings through their face expression illustrated through these type of shots. When researching these filming stategies, one of our essential shot, the close up shot, needs to focus very clearly and specifically on the face. This shot is very important in thriller films due to the fact that it allows the audience to study the person's reaction very closely. It can also be used to capture detail in an important scene. It is said that long shots are good for scenes without much action, similar to our beginning scene that has little to no action and our first shot is a long shot to establish the location. It needs to be a clear long shot so the audience can observe the location well. This lets the audience put into perspective how the place is. We also decided to use multiple zoom shots throught the scenes. The zoom shots are very vital in our film because they emphazise important mystery clues left to the auidence. Moving on from the type of angles, I am also looking into the type oflighting chosen for our film, which as in most thriller films, low-key lighting will be used. Low-key lighting is used within thriller films to create a creepy sensation. Lighting allows the audience to feel suspense throughout the scene. According to research, color is very important as the darker color is the more sinister the film sees. For our film, low key lighting will be used when the sinister plot is beginning to take place to create suspense and mystery within the audience. At the beginning, however, a sunny type of lighting will be used as it will be day time. This type of lighting creates normalcy within the film, generating curiosity in the audience as to what is going to happen next. My group and I will start filming very soon, with my research, I will be better prepared when it is my turn to film.
