Researching specific costumes for final task

 For the final task, the genre of our film will be thriller. Since my group and I will start filming soon, I am currently looking into specific costumes that should most likely be used throughot the film. Our film will be a creepy thiller including an evil mom with a sinister plan. Based on research, there are many type of clothes used in thriller films. They vary based on the sub genre. Our film would fall under the crime/kidnapping category. However, one elements that stands out in most thriller films no matter what the sub genre is, are the dark colors in the costumes the characters wear. This creates tension as it  covers up the majority of a certain character. As for females in thriller films, they sometimes wear dresses to respresent feminity. For this reason, I particulary suppose that the mom in our movie should wear a dark color dress such as brown or even a very dark shade of burgundy. This would keep the audience at the edge of their seat as the colors of her clothes are indicating her sinister side but at the same side she is a mom and no one would suspect a mom so the audience will be curious to know what the evil plan of the mom is. If she were to wear red, this would represent danger and a sign of power within her. Nontheless, in certain thriller films, villains are dressed very normally and casually. This generates fear within the audience as it indicates that they could be in the same real life situation. The mom's acquaintance, which is her daughter, should also wear a dark type of T- shirt but with light blue jeans as most teenagers nowadays wear. This makes her look normal but at the same time, the dark colors would represent secrecy, as she is hiding her true intentions with her new "friend" whom she is about to do something very badly to. Bases on research, the victim in a thriller film usually wears lighter shades. The new friend in our film, who will play the victim will most likely wear light clothes such as a light blue above knee length dress. This has connotations of purity and innocence in the person, disregarding any suspiscions of them having a darker, evil side. All in all, the costumes in our film will most likely be very creepy- dark like as that is what a thriller film mostly consits of.

Resuming the editing process

Continuing with our film, my group and I have have started editing each of our scenes. There are a total of 60 scenes. Each one of us has at least 12 scenes to edit. Even though there are a few scenes yet to be shot, we have begun to edit the scenes that are completed since there are quite a few. As for me, I have 12 scenes to edit. Beginning with the sharpening knives scene and ending with the mother making tea from the kettle. The first scene that I edited was the knives scene. This scene consisted of a close up shot of the knives indicating that the evil mother is prepping to get on with her sinister plan. Therefore, this scene has a great amount of tensión and suspense as the audience is viewing the dangerous weapon the mom is using for her plan. Which is why I made the lighting of this scene be low key lighting to créate the suspense within the scene. I also made the scene a bit in slow motion to emphasize the mother sharpening the knvies. Editing process

As the filming journey continues, my group and I have still not finished filming. We have about 3 scenes to film to be able to complete the movie. The scene where Emily and her friend go into the house, the scene where the mom makes Emily fall asleep with the tea, and the ending scene. As I begin my editing process, I am currently still looking over the scenes that I have to edit. I am not able to edit at this moment due to the fact that I am in a different country because of an emergency last minute trip. As I am looking over the scenes, I am writing down ideas to make the film more creative. Also, I am writing down what needs to be edited, for example, what needs to be cut out from the scene. One of my scenes is where the mom is sharpening the knvies. In my opinion, that scene needs to have a bit of low key lighting added along with creepy eerie music since those are dangerous weapons and it leaves the audience at the edge of their set. Filming Review

 My group and I have taken a pause from filming. The last day we filmed was Tuesday, March 23. The next day we film will be the last since we have completed most of the film. To better prepare for our next filming session, I am currently reviewing my role and lines. This way, it will be easier not only for me but for my group. This will help us to not have to reshoot the scene multiple times and take more time than needed. In the scenes that are yet to be filmed, my character has many lines and the acting has to be adeuqate. The scene where Emily drinks the tea, she has to faint and act weak. Practice makes perfect so the more I practice my lines and character, the more unchallenging things will go. Also, I have been looking into the story board my group and I completed. I have crossed out or set aside the scenes we have already completed in the storyboard. I have marked the ones we haven't.
