Filming blog

Image
As scheduled, my group and I were supposed to film on Monday, November 23. It was our first day filming. One of our group members, Jayda M could not make it that day so we had to film without her. Our filming location was at pompano beach. Jayda was supposed to film through the phone but since she couldn’t make it, I took her place to film. I feel that I need much more practice with filming which is why we had chosen jayda to film. All aside, it went well. For the opening scene, we decided to film the location (a.k.a the beach location) mostly towards the sky, leaning towards the beach view. The next scene demonstrated jocelyn as the girlfriend from the music video walking with the boy, her boyfriend. We had to shoot that scene several times before getting it right. At times u would zoom in too much or the angle I was shooting did not look well. Walking backwards while filming was kind of challenging for me. The next scene I filmed was jocelyn and the boy sitting down talking. It...

Planning story board for my music video

Image
For a few days, my group and I worked on our storyboard. We have not done this type of production before, and it was hard to decide on certain scenes. These are the scenes that we agreed on. Of course, they may change as we conjure up new ideas for our music video, but these are the most basic scenes to guide us for when we begin to film.  Scene 1: This will be when we establish the first location and main characters. The two main subjects of the video will be Jocelyn who will be playing the role of the girl that got cheated on (the singer of the song), and Judith's cousin as the cheating boyfriend. The first scene will take place in the park. Jayda will act as a camerawoman and film the two acting like they are on a date. Perhaps sitting on the grass at a park and eating ice cream. Scene 2: This scene will be of Jocelyn and her friends. This scene is supposed to show that time has passed since the last scene. They will have the windows of the car open and act as if they are ...

Planning for my music video

Image
The song chosen for our music video is: Beggin’ on your knees by Victoria justice. Since it is a song that displays teenage material, our music video is going to be displayed that way too. For that reason, we want to make it casual and teenage like. For our location, we chose two different places to film. One of those places is the beach. We chose this place because it is a very popular and also, a place where many people, especially teenagers go and socialize with their friends. The second place we chose is a park. A park is also a sociable place where people can go and have fun which is mostly what our song reflects. We have chosen to film in the afternoon when the sun is still up, like 4-5 p.m. This way, we can make it more creative. The couples that we use in our video will be doing something ordinary together(walk on the beach and hold hands, winging at the park), so the clothing will be casual. However, we so need to follow the conventions of pop commercials, so the clothes ...

Research Blog: Music Video Conventions

Image
Pop music video are typically the most viewed videos on the internet. Even though most have the same storyline and standards they are adored. That is because the conventions followed in that story line usually can be interpreted by most audience and does so in an appealing way. The typical lighting of a pop video is very bright and clear so that the audience can see the details of everything. It is usually edited with the use of tints and filters with warm colors. The main subjects of the video are usually photoshops so the their flaws are not prevalent and they look attractive throughout the video. The camera tends to use a lot of close ups of the main characters faces. These angles are so the audience can see the emotions portrayed in the video. ON the same token these angles help make the video more dramatic and make the plot clear. The plot may be clouded because of the use of dancing and parting scenes in most pop videos. Thought the video the scenes may tell a story or show a...

The people are I have chosen to work with is Jocelyn Colone and Jayda Moimeme. I have chosen to work with them because I have known them for a long time and we have been friends since freshman year. I trust that they are responsible and do their work. Teamwork is very important in these type of projects. Since it is a project where we could share the work and each one of us has a particular task to do to complete the project, they are really good people to work with. Also, another benefit is that we get along so there won't be any complications on agreeing with certain things when completing the music video. The song we chose to do is "beggin' on you knees" by Victoria Justice. This is a song from one my childhood tv shows "victorious." It is a song that "Tori" from the show writes to a guy that used her just to get a good grade on an assignment. Tori finds out and performs this totally new different song that he didn't know about. In this son...

Creative Critical reflection

Image
For my product, I used conventions in the way that I added different colors to the commercial when editing, used happy sounds  and used a few transitions to make it flow. At the start of my commercial, I changed the color to black and white and when my product was introduced I changed it right back. The reason for this was because I wanted to illustrate with the black and white color the negativity of not having the product and how it is all better with my product, which is why it looks brighter and it goes back to the normal color when the product is introduced. Throughout, the entire commercial, I also used a joyful upbeat sound. For my product, with it being a product used for pets especially bunnies, the social groups would be people that have pets in particular, bunnies. The type of people who are looking for a product to take their bunny out for a walk because maybe they just can't find the perfect product.  The way my product engaged with audiences was that I trie...

Editing blog

I shot my commercial in about 5 different takes. Each for its specific scene. I got all the clips ready and imported it into the program I was using which was adobe premiere. They were imported in the order that the commercial was going to go. The timing had to be set right since the clips were very short and only lasted a few seconds, 5 seconds the most. I made some clips longer than other due to how long they already lasted so it could all come together nicely. I also made some cuts to some scenes that needed to be cut or that I filmed badly, like some parts that I shouldn't have. I changed some clips to last about 4 more seconds. I then changed the color of the first two scenes/clips to black and white. Then I introduced my product into the video by placing the harness into the bunny. My commercial required a voiceover so I also recorded myself doing the voice over. Then I exported the audio into the editing area for each clip. For example, the part where the bunny is on the doo...

Filming blog

On Sunday, November 1st I started filming. I was planning to start filming on Saturday, the 31st but it was a very rainy day so it was a bad day for filming since my commercial would be filmed outside. The commercial didn't require many actors, it was only my niece, as the person walking the bunny and the bunny itself. Sunday was the perfect day to film as it turned out to be a very sunny day, which was the day I wanted as the commercial was supposed to seem happy, sunny and delightful. I couldn't film at my house because I was not home the whole day but I brought everything I needed to film. Within those things was my bunny and the product I would be advertising which was the harness and what I was going to use to actually record and film. The scene outside where the bunny was to be walked as filmed first, the sun was bright and it was very hot out. I then got my bunny ready by placing the harness on him. I picked a location that would be fresh and also looked nice with a bre...
